Sankalchand Patel College of Engineering

Laboratory’s Description

The department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology has 15 Laboratories, viz. Android lab, Database Lab, Computer Design Lab, Computer Software Lab, Computer Network and Security Lab, Advance Programming Lab, First Year Computer Lab, PG Lab, Computer Research Lab (PG).  Total there are 300+ Computer Systems dedicatedly for the CE-IT department which are utilized in various Laboratories. All the Computer Laboratories are equipped with Computer Systems with the latest Configuration. Each laboratory is equipped with Air Conditioning Facilities which provides the fabulous environment for study and more productivity. All the laboratories are precious in all aspects for the smooth conductions of practical of various subjects. All the 300+ Computers are connected with high speed internet facilities, so that all the students are aided. All the Laboratories are connected to the Gigabit Network of the department which in turn is connected to the Institute 10 Gigabit Network on optical fiber. Central power backup systems are made available to the entire campus, so never work breakdown during the learning period. Students are provided with individual work-spaces and computers consisting of the latest up to Intel i5 processors.

The department regularly upgrades these computers to stay abreast with the latest available technologies. The department also houses its very own server room, consisting of a mix of Intel Xeon based high end rack and desktop servers, which aims to provide uninterrupted central Application Services to students through a High Availability implementation on these servers like Oracle.

Android Lab (ABG1, ABF3)

The Android lab is designed to enhance the understudies to learn new and latest technologies with the latest Computer Systems like core i5, 8 GB RAM. The Android lab is designed to perform all Android Applications practical with the latest SDK. The Lab is installed with latest open source software required for the Android Lab such as Android Studio, SDK, Virtual Emulators etc. to cope up with the emerging IT Sector demand. The Undergraduates of the Department complete tasks in fields like Android Mobile Application for personnel and productivity, and so forth.

Database Lab (ABG2, ABS2)

Database Lab is installed with the latest Backend Technologies which uses the Client Server Architecture. Laboratories experiments are aimed at making the students aware of the Backend tools. A database management system (DBMS) is computer application software that provides a way to manage data. The requirement of modern days is to have a central system that manages, modifies and updates data accurately. This is achieved by a DBMS in robust, correct and non-redundant way. DBMS lab aims at practicing and achieving this aim by using various softwares such as SQL, ORACLE, etc. All these require a thorough practice of various SQL queries. Working through an interactive database application, get to know SQL by exploring the basics of data storage, schema diagrams, data normalization rules, and table relationships.

Computer Design Lab (ABG3, ABS3)

The Computer Design Laboratory focuses on the design, implementation and verification of systems whose primary components include computers. The Computer Design Laboratory research addresses the design of Computing Systems ranging from small embedded elements to large distributed computing environments covering all aspects of the System lifecycle from requirements analysis through testing and validation. Design laboratories can be defined as specially equipped spaces where research and experiments based on software are carried out using various tools in the design field. These design laboratories are well structured on different System Software subjects and very helpful to students for application design.

Computer Software Lab (ABG4, ABS4)

This laboratory is satisfying the need of experiments required, the laboratory also provides facilities to help students to learn the Programming Subjects like C. C++, Web Technology, Java Programming etc. In this Laboratory, gcc, Code Block, JDK, NetBeans, Eclipse are installed, which is a free and open source integrated development environment for application development. Purpose of this lab is to provide an environment to develop a real life related application to solve the problem of our society.

Computer Network & Security Lab (ABG5, ABS5)

Computer Network and Security Laboratory develops and supports an experimental environment for Network-security, evaluation, research and education in modeling and simulation of large-scale networks and systems, cyber-security, software-defined networking etc. The lab provides students the opportunity to develop hands-on expertise in working in the field of security, networking problems and data recovery. Through this students will be able to evaluate the issues with vigilance and detailing to solve the problems related to networking and security.

Advance Programming Lab (ABG6, ABS6)

The Advance Programming Lab is intended to empower understudies toward the heading of learning of new and modernized technologies with the latest configured computers like core i5 with 8GB RAM. Understudies are made to advance with innovations like Android, .NET, J2EE, Oracle and MS SQL information base, and so forth. The lab has all the programming instruments all-around introduced with the most recent open-source and authorized variant which are required, like Visual Studio, Netbeans, Eclipse, Android Studio, Oracle, MS SQL, and so on., for understudies to adapt up to live functional IT market prerequisite. Additionally, the undertakings are offered to investigate the fast progressions in the Industry and Information Technology. The understudies of the Department complete tasks in fields like Website Development, Database Development, Mobile Application Development, Desktop Development, and so forth

First Year Computer Lab – ABS1

First Year Computer Lab (Location ABS1), a practical infrastructure facility, is designed for the first year students. Primary goal of this facility is to “make aware the fresh students of engineering, about the basics of computer programming languages like C and C++”. In addition to this, it also incorporates the capabilities to provide the various practical tools, which can be used to deliver bridge courses. Said facility comprises purposeful computing machines and other required electrical equipment to serve the objectives.

PG Lab – ABF2

This lab is used to carry out research work in different areas like Image processing, Network security, watermarking, Data mining and data warehousing, Artificial intelligence, stenography etc. Access to IEEE digital library is provided for students. The lab is equipped with all the open source software and library required to perform data analysis and visualization practical’s. Moreover it also contains required tools for generating documentation for Software Engineering and Project Management.

Computer Research Lab (PG) – ABF4

Computer research laboratory is established to envision the needs of students and to fulfill the same.
