Laboratory’s Description
Laboratories and its special features
Our department has state of the art laboratory like Concrete engineering, Environment and Water resources engineering, Geotechnical engineering, Transportation engineering, Surveying, Mechanics of solid, Model room etc… A computer lab is available for UG Students and a dedicated Software Lab is also available for PG and Ph.D Students. The department offers various testing and consultancy services in all respective divisions
Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory
The Geotechnical Laboratory is well-equipped with testing equipment for evaluating all engineering properties of soils and rocks, including index properties, compaction characteristics of soils, hydraulic characteristics, compressibility, rate of consolidation and sheer strength. The equipment ranges from the most fundamental to the most sophisticated and is used in both undergraduate and graduate teaching and research.
Mechanics of Solid Laboratory
The objectives of mechanics of solids lab is determine the various properties of materials such as stresses against compression, tension, shear and bending, hardness, impact strength, stiffness, young modulus, etc. and select the suitable material for the required purpose.mos lab demonstrating the basic principles of engg mechanics, mechanics of solids and design of machine members to students through a serious of experiments.
Concrete Technology Laboratory
Concrete is one of the important construction materials. Study of its constituents and their properties is essential for preparing desired mix so as to develop required strength necessary for various types of Structures. The durability of the structures depends upon the care with which ingredients of concrete are selected, mixed, placed, compacted and cured. Concrete is used not only for construction of building, but also for concrete roads, gravity dams, retaining walls, water tanks, airport runway pavements, etc.
Environmental Engineering Laboratory
Environmental Engineering Laboratory is fully equipped for developing state-of-the-art advanced water treatment technologies, implemented renewable energy-based water treatment processes, testing emerging water treatment technologies, site restoration and water quality solutions. It has significant environmental instrumentation and has access to collaborative support equipment.
Transportation Engineering Laboratory
The Transportation Engineering laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering is well equipped with all the required instruments and equipment that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of a student. Transportation Engineering Lab consists of equipment used in the testing of bituminous material such as Softening Point, Ductility, Penetration etc. and for aggregate such as Impact Value, Los Angeles Abrasion Value, Crushing Value etc. California Bearing Ratio Testing Equipment which is used for soil strength analysis and Marshall Stability Testing Machine used for bitumen mix design are also available in the laboratory.
Computer Laboratory
The Civil Computer Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department was established to facilitate the practical course work of UG students. It expediates the computation platform to execute simulation/ modelling/ analysis related to the research work of UG/ PG/ PhD students of the department. Advanced civil engineering software are procured for making the students globally competitive and industry ready. Students get professional training on 2D & 3D drafting of Civil Engineering drawings using the latest version of software. Student will learn computer aided design layout, 3D solid modelling and construction management portfolios. A suite of civil engineering software including the latest versions of AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, and Revit are available to students on a walk-in basis when required for project support.
M.Tech Computer Laboratory
Computer research laboratory is established to envision the needs of students and to fulfill the same. In the field of research the students of various PG courses can get benefits and can expand their research capabilities by utilizing their time in the well-equipped lab with advanced PCs intended for the objective of research exposure. The laboratory offers practical exposure to the most needed research aspects in the field of Civil Engineering.
Surveying Laboratory
The laboratory of Surveying is well equipped with all the required instruments and tools that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of a student. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments. Surveying Lab offers additional experience in fundamental land surveying measurement methods for surveying courses, including precision steel taping methods to perform horizontal measurements, digital theodolites to perform angular measurements and traditional and automatic levels for elevation measurements.
