Fab Lab

A Fab Lab is what?

A Fab Lab, also known as a digital manufacturing lab, is a place where people can play, create, learn, teach, and innovate. It is a place for learning and innovation.

Fab Labs provide anyone anywhere access to the atmosphere, the tools, the materials, and the cutting-edge technology needed to create almost anything.

The supercomputer facility aims to provide capacity building among students and faculties with advanced technologies to perform high-end computations in the field of engineering, pharmacy, science and other academic programs to address and catalyze the research using modelling, simulation and data analysis. The facility will also help in promoting research by integrating leading-edge emerging technologies at the grass root level.

About the Fab Lab at SPU

A Fab Lab was established at Centre for Research and Innovation, Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar. The aim of this Fab Lab is to provide an open space for learning, innovation, and can also provide a stimulus for local entrepreneurship. The Lab will provide resources and mentoring to the students & faculties to transform their potential into business.

The Fab Lab at SPU is a cutting-edge lab equipped with high-end digital fabrication and manufacturing equipment made up of a variety of adaptable computer-controlled tools that can work with a variety of materials and length scales in order to create “almost anything” and serve as a platform for new ideas and innovation.

There is a team of dedicated full time professionals available at the Fab Lab for support and guidance in students projects and entrepreneurial activities.

It will serve as a prominent center for Fabrication, Prototyping, Learning, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the region.
