Message from The HOD

Welcome to the Department of Computer Engineering at Sankalchand Patel College of Engineering. Established in 1999, our department has continuously strived to provide quality education that meets the ever-evolving demands of the technology-driven world. Guided by our mission to disseminate technical knowledge with human values, we are committed to nurturing skilled, responsible, and innovative computer engineers who can contribute meaningfully to society. Currently, we offer a B.Tech. in Computer Engineering, M.Tech. programs in Software Engineering and Cyber Security, as well as a Ph.D. program. Our academic environment emphasizes critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, and IoT with a strong focus on emerging technologies.

Our department’s vision is to become a leading institution committed to serving humanity through effective technical education for social improvement and transformation. To this end, we maintain state-of-the-art infrastructure, dynamic curricula, and a team of dedicated faculty from reputed institutes like IITs & NITs. We actively promote holistic development through workshops, seminars, expert talks, industrial visits, and student-faculty development initiatives.

We are proud of our students and alumni, who have gone on to pursue higher studies at prestigious institutions and hold key positions in the tech industry globally. Initiatives like e-Yantra Lab, supported by IIT Bombay, add a unique dimension to our students’ practical learning experience. We welcome aspiring engineers to join our department, grow with us, and become future-ready professionals who can drive innovation and positive change in the world.

About

Department of Computer Engineering was established in the year 1999 with the objective of imparting quality education and to cater the need of eminent computer professionals in the field of Computer Engineering. Currently, the department offers a 4 year programme, B.Tech. with 120 intake, 2 year programme, M. Tech. with 24 intake in Software Engineering and 18 intake in Cyber Security and Ph.D. program. In near future, department is also planning to offer integrated dual-degree course and Ph.D. programs. Networking, Security, Data Mining, Cloud Computing, Image Processing and many Cutting Edge Technologies are few of the important areas of emphasis for the departmental students. Our Computer Engineering graduates have renowned themselves in higher studies at the top Universities in India and abroad and also have occupied positions of prominence in the computer field. One of our key strengths, our Alumni, remains in constant touch with us and contribute in the growth of the department. Focusing on conveying the best education through latest infrastructure, qualified teachers and updated curriculum, the department has all the facilities to carry out the teaching and research activities. Department has highly qualified and passionate faculty members from recognized well known institutes including NITs. The department also focuses on other co-curricular activities like workshops, seminars, expert talks, industrial visits, and student-faculty development programs. Many students of the department carry out their project work on the Aakash tablets issued by IIT Bombay to the institute, completely free of cost.

Mission

Computer Engineering Department is functioning to achieve and fulfill the demand of the present time through conception, escalation, and upholding dissemination of technical knowledge in the field of Computer Engineering with human values. Also, we believe that through education, learning, and research we can lead the forthcoming generation of Computer Engineering to the highest summit of the evolutionary journey of mankind.

Program Outcomes (POs):

PO1:
Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2:
Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3:
Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4:
Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5:
Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6:
The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7:
Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs):

PSO1:
Ability for understanding of the principles and working of the hardware and software aspects of computer systems by assessing hardware of computer systems and can acquire professional skills and knowledge of software development.
PSO2:
Use professional engineering practices, strategies and tactics for the development, operation and maintenance of software also can model real world problems using appropriate data structure and suitable algorithms.
PSO3:
Provide effective and efficient real time solutions using acquired knowledge in various domains and hence supporting new ideas and innovations.
PSO4:
Develop effective oral and written communication skills and to introduce them to write ethical codes and guidelines, show leadership, can work as a team leader/team member and communicate efficiently with team in developing software of multidisciplinary nature.
